A very pretty selection of colors to create with!

I went with a Thanksgiving card using these colors –

Something simple an elegant!

I used  a masking technique to stamp the words for the background. In testing out ideas for this creation, I guess I got Cherry Cobbler ink on my ‘day’ stamp……still looks good!

Off to celebrate with family Giving lots of Thanks for family. My mother-in-law from Holland was able to join us! So grateful for that.

Please check out what the other designers have created at Create with Connie and Mary. Try to take some time for yourself to be creative this week and join us in our challenge.

Our theme is fall, of course!

I created a nice little array of items.

The first is a simple, elegant card –

libbystamps, stampin up, Suite Seasons, Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate, Gold Foil, Thanksgiving card

Love these colors together! Very elegant and classy!

The third is a wonderful interactive card –

libbystamps, stampin up, slider card, Kraft Rope Trim, Layering Ovals Framelits, Halloween Night Specialty DSP, Cookie Cutter Builder Punch, Cookie Cutter Halloween

Pull up on the viewable area to see this –

…and did you see that the adorable main focal image moved up to?

Lastly, I always make some sort of Gratitude Journal for myself and as a Card Buffet item around this time. Here is the one for this year –

libbystamps, stampin up, Seasonal Frame Thinlits, Copper Foil, Kraft Tag A Bag Gift Bags, Vintage Leaves, Leaflets Framelits, Season Frame Thinlits

Inside it has 10 sheets of paper to notate what you are ‘grateful’ for. This is one of our Tag A Bag Gift Bags folded over and decorated.

I would love to read what you think about my Blog Hop projects before moving on to the next blog! And, if you attend my Card Buffet this weekend, you may or may not see these projects again, just sayin’!

October Catalog Favorites, Blogging Friends Blog Hop

Welcome fall! Cooler temps. Pumpkins. Rustling leaves.

……and the first of three posts! This is for Blogging Friends Blog Hop!

Blogging Friends Icon

You might have came from Anna Masciovecchio to visit me.

Our theme this month is Mini Catalog favorites. As many of you have seen the Stampin’ Up Holiday mini catalog, it’s probably the whole book, right? Well, I had to narrow it down a bit.

My favorites would have to be some stamp sets, a punch, some of the DSP, the trims and the new foil.

I created a little holiday treat bag ensemble to show them off –

libbystamps, stampin up, Tag A Bag Gift Bags, treat bag, Blogging Friends Blog Hop, Cookie Cutter Christmas, Cookie Cutter Halloween, Cookie Cutter Builder Punch, Layering Circles Framelits

Can you say,  A D O R A B L E ????

I made four bags that would be appropriate to use over the next few months for treats, small gifts or even a gift card!

They all have the same size wrap around band and a velcro closure. I also placed a firm piece of cardboard in the bottom to give the bag more stability. Measurements are at the end.

This first bag is really a fall/winter treat bag. It never really get that cold here for cable knit sweaters……..but, I love this Cable Knit Dynamic embossing folder to create the look of one!

libbystamps, stampin up, Tag A Bag Gift Bags, treat bag, Blogging Friends Blog Hop, Cookie Cutter Christmas, Cookie Cutter Builder Punch, Cable Knit Dynamic EF, Layering Circles Framelits, Copper Foil

I paired it with the new Copper Foil. It’s such a much have! Here a made a ‘button’ to show it off. Couldn’t you image hot chocolate or s’mores treats in this?? So so cozy!

The Halloween bag is pretty simple. So great for spooky treats!

libbystamps, stampin up, Tag A Bag Gift Bags, treat bag, Blogging Friends Blog Hop, Cookie Cutter Halloween, Cookie Cutter Builder Punch, Halloween Night Specialty, Layering Circles Framelits

I used the Cookie Cutter Halloween stamp set in and the Cookie Cutter Builder punch. Because I used a blender pen to add some detail to the mummy, I stamped him in Staz On first then onto Shimmery White Card Stock. This paper works nicely with the blender pen.

For fall/thanksgiving, I went with this little detailed scarecrow on the bag –

libbystamps, stampin up, Tag A Bag Gift Bags, treat bag, Blogging Friends Blog Hop, Cookie Cutter Halloween, Cookie Cutter Builder Punch, Serene Scenery, DSP, Layering Circles Framelits, Kraft Rope Trim

I used Serene Scenery DSP for this one. (It’s in the larger catalog.) I also used my blender pen and a few ink pads to color him in on Shimmery White Card Stock. He’s sooo cute! The new Kraft Rope trim helped to add lots of detail to his arms and legs. Looks like real straw, right?

The Christmas bag finishes off the ensemble

libbystamps, stampin up, Tag A Bag Gift Bags, treat bag, Blogging Friends Blog Hop, Cookie Cutter Christmas, Cookie Cutter Builder Punch, Candy Cane Lane DSP, Layering Circles Framelits

It’s nothing too fussy. By the time Christmas rolls around, no one has much time or energy to craft! It’s a simple stamped image detailed with a piece ribbon on the side.

Now that you’ve seen my treat bags, here’s how I created them.

Treat Bag Basic –

  • start with Kraft Tag a Bag Gift bags
  • remove 1/8th off the bottom to open bag up
  • on the bottom, score at 1 1/2, parallel to bottom
  • rotate twice, score 1 1/2 from top (the outer most part of the serrated curve)
  • parallel to the outer edge, cut 1″ up to score line
  • repeat for other side
  • fold ‘bottom’ score lines inward creating bottom
  • sides remain puffy to flat towards the top
  • fold down top score line
  • inside piece for the sturdy cardboard bottom 2 5/8 x 2

Bag Band –

  • 2 x 8 1/2 strip of card stock
  • 2 DSP pieces, 2 x 1 3/4 and 2 3/4 x 1 3/4
  • adhere to outside flaps

libbystamps, stampin up, Tag A Bag Gift Bags, Blogging Friends Blog Hop

Pretty simple? Please email me if you have any questions!

Now that you’ve seen a sampling of some of my favorites, head on over to Anne Power to see what her favorites are!

Happy Thanksgiving

Just a quick post to wish everyone Thanksgiving wishes.

Whether you are alone or surrounded by a crowd of people, my you find some joy today.

I made these shaker cards now several times –

libbystamps, Stampin' Up, shaker card, Leaflets Framelits, Six Sayings, Kraft and White Corrugated Paper

I truly loved them.

libbystamps, Stampin' Up, shaker card, Leaflets Framelits, Six Sayings, Kraft and White Corrugated Paper

Each set had different shaker pieces. These had glimmer paper and the corrugated paper.

I just had to share these one more time. They brought me joy to send them out.

A Corny Give Thanks

What do you think of my new look?? Refreshing, isn’t it?

My monthly Card Buffets are packed with ideas, techniques, products and creative use of supplies. It’s more than making a few cards. I like people to go home inspired and excited to create, or recreate, projects from the class.

Last month, we had this nifty corner flip fold fall themed card on the Buffet –

libbystamps, Stampin' Up, Thankful Forest Friends, Acorn Builder Punch, Into the Woods DSP, Gold Foil Sheets, Gold Glimmer Paper, Kraft and White Corrugated Paper, corner flip fold card

A little background. I have loved this idea. I have seen many done. I have many pinned. No, it’s not my original idea. I was quite frustrated that all the tutorials never worked quite right. The fold was crooked.  The cut didn’t work out right.

I ran across a tutorial (of course, I can not find it now to give credit) that used a ‘post it’ note to get the cut just right. And, it worked beautifully! It made sense to me and every card flipped perfectly.

This is what the back of the inside looks like –

libbystamps, Stampin' Up, Thankful Forest Friends, Acorn Builder Punch, Into the Woods DSP, Gold Foil Sheets, Gold Glimmer Paper, Kraft and White Corrugated Paper, corner flip fold card

So nice. So crisp. It’s very nifty.

libbystamps, Stampin' Up, Thankful Forest Friends, Acorn Builder Punch, Into the Woods DSP, Gold Foil Sheets, Gold Glimmer Paper, Kraft and White Corrugated Paper, corner flip fold card

Simply decorated. And, the sparkly acorns, can’t go wrong with those either.

Go make a card and make someones day!

Gratitude Journal Box Tutorial

If you attended my October Card Buffet, or you saw my posting yesterday for the Blogging Friends Blog Hop, then you saw this –

libbystamps, Stampin' Up, Lighthearted Leaves Stamp Set, Endless Thanks Stamp Set, Note Tag Punch, Leaflets Framelits, Decorative Dots Embossing Folder, 2014-2016 In Color Washi Tape, Tiny Treat Boxes, gratitude journal, gratitude box

It’s a nifty decorated box resembling an acorn.

libbystamps, Stampin' Up, Lighthearted Leaves Stamp Set, Endless Thanks Stamp Set, Note Tag Punch, Leaflets Framelits, Decorative Dots Embossing Folder, 2014-2016 In Color Washi Tape, Tiny Treat Boxes, gratitude journal, gratitude box

But, when you open it, it’s whats inside that is the greatest part.

libbystamps, Stampin' Up, Lighthearted Leaves Stamp Set, Endless Thanks Stamp Set, Note Tag Punch, Leaflets Framelits, Decorative Dots Embossing Folder, 2014-2016 In Color Washi Tape, Tiny Treat Boxes, gratitude journal, gratitude box

It’s a 15 page accordion style mini  journal. Enough space for 30 entries.

Here is how I made it. I took one of our Tiny Treat Boxes and removed the lid and flap portions.

libbystamps, Stampin' Up, Lighthearted Leaves Stamp Set, Endless Thanks Stamp Set, Note Tag Punch, Leaflets Framelits, Decorative Dots Embossing Folder, 2014-2016 In Color Washi Tape, Tiny Treat Boxes, gratitude journal, gratitude box

I made a new lid out of Early Espresso measuring 4 x 4, scored at 7/8 on all four sides. I also cut an additional piece 2 x 2, with no score lines.

libbystamps, Stampin' Up, Lighthearted Leaves Stamp Set, Endless Thanks Stamp Set, Note Tag Punch, Leaflets Framelits, Decorative Dots Embossing Folder, 2014-2016 In Color Washi Tape, Tiny Treat Boxes, gratitude journal, gratitude box

I took my scissors and made a hole in the center of the lid. Nothing fancy, ribbon will be threaded through it later. I also trimmed the lid portion. At this point I ran my original sample through the Big Shot with the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder.

After embossing, add Tear & Tape Adhesive to the box lid and the 2 x 2 square. (FYI, I have the Tear & Tape placed wrong in the picture.)

Make your lid.

libbystamps, Stampin' Up, Lighthearted Leaves Stamp Set, Endless Thanks Stamp Set, Note Tag Punch, Leaflets Framelits, Decorative Dots Embossing Folder, 2014-2016 In Color Washi Tape, Tiny Treat Boxes, gratitude journal, gratitude box

Take a 4 inch piece of ribbon and run it through the hole. On the inside, tape it open.

libbystamps, Stampin' Up, Lighthearted Leaves Stamp Set, Endless Thanks Stamp Set, Note Tag Punch, Leaflets Framelits, Decorative Dots Embossing Folder, 2014-2016 In Color Washi Tape, Tiny Treat Boxes, gratitude journal, gratitude box

Insert the 2 x 2 piece inside the top to secure the ribbon and finish it off neatly.

libbystamps, Stampin' Up, Lighthearted Leaves Stamp Set, Endless Thanks Stamp Set, Note Tag Punch, Leaflets Framelits, Decorative Dots Embossing Folder, 2014-2016 In Color Washi Tape, Tiny Treat Boxes, gratitude journal, gratitude box

At this point you can decorate the lid however you’d like. (My sample here was not embossed.)

I added a few leaves and a punched sentiment all tied off with 1/8 gold ribbon.

libbystamps, Stampin' Up, Lighthearted Leaves Stamp Set, Endless Thanks Stamp Set, Note Tag Punch, Leaflets Framelits, Decorative Dots Embossing Folder, 2014-2016 In Color Washi Tape, Tiny Treat Boxes, gratitude journal, gratitude box

For the accordion insert, I scored a whole sheet of card stock every 1 3/4. (You will end up with a 1/2 inch piece at the end that you use to secure each strip together.) Cut strips at 1 3/4.

libbystamps, Stampin' Up, Lighthearted Leaves Stamp Set, Endless Thanks Stamp Set, Note Tag Punch, Leaflets Framelits, Decorative Dots Embossing Folder, 2014-2016 In Color Washi Tape, Tiny Treat Boxes, gratitude journal, gratitude box

I used 2 long strips, plus a small strip of 3 solid squares to make 15 squares, 30 entries.( Sorry, picture isn’t clear on the score lines.)

libbystamps, Stampin' Up, Lighthearted Leaves Stamp Set, Endless Thanks Stamp Set, Note Tag Punch, Leaflets Framelits, Decorative Dots Embossing Folder, 2014-2016 In Color Washi Tape, Tiny Treat Boxes, gratitude journal, gratitude box

Accordion fold the strips. Adhere the three strips together on the 1/2 strip using Tear & Tape.

Decorate. I used the in color washi tape that was on the Weekly Deals a few weeks ago. It was perfect because there are 5 colors and 30 squares, each color repeats 3 times. I tore off about an inch so it could wrap from front to back.

I stamped ‘grateful’ and ‘thankful’ randomly on the front and back of the small squares.

It folds nicely into the box.

I am grateful for my wonderful, faithful customers and the lovely blogging ladies I’ve been sharing creative projects with for the past couple of months.

Questions, comments, compliments are always great to read!
