We Create August Blog Hop

Happy August! Yes, August. Already! That means blog hop time! Second one of the day. We Create this time around!

Lol, ‘we create’ a card then ‘step it up’ or ‘step it over’.

I guess this month I decided to ‘step it over’. Here is the first card –

libbystamps, stampin up, Happy Birthday Gorgeous, Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits, Decorative Ribbon Border Punch, Fresh Florals DSP, We CreateThis card is pretty. However, change the base…..

libbystamps, stampin up, Happy Birthday Gorgeous, Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits, Decorative Ribbon Border Punch, Fresh Florals DSP, We CreateIsn’t this a pop of color now?

libbystamps, stampin up, Happy Birthday Gorgeous, Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits, Decorative Ribbon Border Punch, Fresh Florals DSP, We Create

Compare the two. Both cards use all the same elements and colors. What a difference the card base makes!

I’d love to read your thoughts on the two cards. Leave a comment before going onto the talented Kris Kilkenny – we all love to read your comments!

Blogging Friends Blog Hop – August – All About Me

Happy August! Yes, August. Already! That means blog hop time! First one of the day. This one is for Blogging Friends Blog Hop!

Blogging Friends Icon

Our theme this month is perfect – All About You!

I took this a little personally. I made three projects translating some of my favorites in stamped card form.

I am here because…..

I.

Love.

To Stamp.

I literally create something everyday. Yes, every day.

libbystamps, stampin up, Crafting Forever, Color Theory DSP

This is a little booklet created for my stamp club 6 ladies. They each made one at the first class in July. They can jot down stamps they ‘need’.

Next, a favorite drink of mine……

libbystamps, stampin up, Coffee Cafe Bundle, Coffee Cafe, Coffee Cups Framelits, Timeless Textures

Coffee!

Current love? Cold brew. Shared with a friend, my daughter.

….and, this bundle – it’s one of the best in the catalog!

I love flowers. Tulips more specifically and the color black.

libbystamps, stampin up, Tranquil Tulips, Eastern Beauty

These Tranquil Tulips are a favorite stamp set of mine! Isn’t this just gorgeous??

So. Me described in cards. My love for stampin’, coffee, and flowers!

Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop – Favorite New Stamp Set

Happy Saturday! I have recuperated from last Saturday’s big blog hop day and I’m back with just a single hop for Create with Connie and Mary today!

We’ve had the new Stampin’ Up catalog for a little over a month now and we all have found ourselves gravitating towards a few ‘favorite’ items. This is the theme this week, Favorite Stamp Set.

I’d have to say my favorites vary.

Some are visual favorites, stamps I loved, ordered, and have not touched. That’d be several sets……

Hostess sets that are not easily purchased, you have to earn them, and for me, that be Tranquil Tide.

But, one of the ones that seems to be consistently on my table, one of the stamps already mounted to a block, would have to be Lovely Inside & Out. I created yet another card with that set for this weeks hop –

libbystamps, stampin up, Lovely Inside & Out, Lovely Inside & Out Bundle, Lovely Words Thinlits, CCMC, blog hop

I created a stamped background using two shapes in Memento Black, Basic Grey and Smokey Slate. It was rather bold. I decided to run with it anyway adding a piece of Card Stock Vellum on top to tone things down a bit.

libbystamps, stampin up, Lovely Inside & Out, Lovely Inside & Out Bundle, Lovely Words Thinlits, CCMC, blog hop

Using the coordinating framelits, I cut the word ‘friend’ out and removed it from the oval border with a few snips.

This stamp set has terrific words too. I added them alongside the ‘friend’ for interest. It turned out wonderful! This would also make a great card for a guy. It’s not frilly at all!

So what’s your favorite stamp set from the new catalog and why? I’ll randomly select someone for some Happy Mail!!

See what the other Design Team members favorites are too!

Supplies –

  • Stamp Set – Lovely Inside & Out
  • Framelits – Lovely Words
  • Bundles – Lovely Inside & Out
  • Card Stock – Real Red, Whisper White, Vellum
  • Ink – Memento Black, Basic Grey, Smokey Slate
  • Other – Basic Black Baker’s Twine
Happy Stampin’

Watercooler Wednesday 126 – Fiona’s Feminine Anything Goes Challenge

Have a nice festive 4th? I hope you did!

It’s time for another wonderful challenge for Watercooler Wednesday!

Did you see our new logo??? Nice, huh?

Ok, ok, our challenge this week is from Fiona –

I thought about this one for a while. It’s feminine – should be easy, right? Well, I don’t like to create the ‘pink’ cards because a lot of women don’t like pink – at all.

But, this new Lemon Lime Twist is a fun color though!

libbystamps, stampin up, Happy Birthday Gorgeous, Eclectic Layers Thinlits, Naturally Eclectic DSP, Decorative Ribbon Border Punch, Decorative Ribbon Border Punch, WWC

And, yes, diamonds are another thing that every women doesn’t necessarily like either. But, I like the pattern paper here and the cool framelits that match the paper…..So, I went with that!

libbystamps, stampin up, Happy Birthday Gorgeous, Eclectic Layers Thinlits, Naturally Eclectic DSP, Decorative Ribbon Border Punch, Decorative Ribbon Border Punch, WWC

This is such a fun card! I backed the glittery diamonds in vellum for a little more pop to them on the card. I also added a tiny decorative edge to the left side of the card using the new Decorative Ribbon Border Punch. Just a few little details to create a spectacular feminine card!

Our other designers created some fabulous cards too! Check them out on our Watercooler Wednesday blog. You can link up a card there too!

Supplies –

  • Stamp Set – Happy Birthday Gorgeous
  • Framelits – Eclectic Layers
  • Card Stock – Lemon Lime Twist, Silver Glimmer Paper, Vellum Card Stock
  • Ink – Night of Navy
  • DSP – Naturally Eclectic
  • Punches – Decorative Ribbon Border
  • Other – Rhinestone basic Jewels
Happy Stampin’

Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July!!!

Got a festive card designed for Try Stampin’ on Tuesday!

Theme : Dainty and neat.

Well, I believe I got the neat part down. The dainty, I don’t know about that. I created a card to celebrate the 4th –

libbystamps, stampin up, Number of Years, Large Number Framelits, Stars Framelits, Eastern Palace Specialty DSP

Terrific card, right?

I miss the designer series paper stacks we had in color families. I did found this nice shade of Dapper Denim pattern paper from the Eastern Palace Specialty papers we currently carry. I love the way it looks with Cherry Cobbler.

libbystamps, stampin up, Number of Years, Large Number Framelits, Stars Framelits, Eastern Palace Specialty DSP

It makes for a very nice festive card wouldn’t you agree?

Our theme this month is perfect – watercoloring!

This is not one of my stronger areas in card making so it was fun to be challenged with this.

I went with patriotic colors again creating these –
libbystamps, stampin up, Happy Birthday Thinlits, Large Numbers Framelits, Wood Crate Framelits, Patriotic, BFBH, watercolor, red white & blue

Of course, a festive 4th card! I used the Happy Birthday Thinlits and just cut them apart! Paired nicely with the Large Numbers Framelits.

libbystamps, stampin up, Happy Birthday Thinlits, Large Numbers Framelits, Wood Crate Framelits, Patriotic, BFBH, watercolor, red white & blueAnd believe it or not, people have birthday on July 4 as well! Lol! I went with a birthday card too also using the Happy Birthday Thinlits!libbystamps, stampin up, Happy Birthday Thinlits, Large Numbers Framelits, Wood Crate Framelits, Patriotic, BFBH, watercolor, red white & blueI created the watercolor background easily. This is a fool-proof method.

I placed the watercolor paper on paper towels. I dampened it with a spray bottle of water. I took a clear block and smeared it the ink pad and partially ran it across the wet paper. I cleaned the block and repeated the step in a different ink pad color over the uninked area of the wet watercolor paper . The excess water and coloring that pooled on the edge, I gently wiped off. I let it dry then completed my cards.

Pretty stunning, right? This method made bold watercolor images once dried. I did try a few different techniques.

Before heading over to talented, Mary and her watercoloring, leave me a comment. You know, I’ve got blog candy for a lucky person!!!Continue on Blog Hop Icon
