Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop – Awning Cards

Have we got a great blog hop today with Create with Connie and Mary!

Our theme is Awning Cards.

I admit, I don’t think I’ve ever made an awning card. You know how doors and windows sometimes have awnings over them for shade? Well, that apparently works with card making too! And, it makes for some cute card designs.

I pulled out some new Stampin’ Up Designer Series Paper for this design. I notice that in small towns, they tend to decorate the windows according to seasons – and, fall, who doesn’t love fall!?!? That was my inspiration!

libbystamps, stampin up, Spooky Cat, Spooky Night DSP, window card, awning card

I photographed my card as it was lying flat. But that didn’t really show off the ‘awning’.

Check out the dimension –

libbystamps, stampin up, Spooky Cat, Spooky Night DSP, window card, awning card

I used Acetate Window Sheets for the window.

libbystamps, stampin up, Spooky Cat, Spooky Night DSP, window card, awning cardI thought the pumpkins and sentiment looked best on the inside peeking through the opening, just like a real window!

This card was also minimally stamped. The pumpkins were cut from the Spooky Night Designer Series Paper! The awning was also trimmed according to the circles in the pattern. So easy!

Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop – Holiday Catalog

Have we got a fun hop of cards today for our Create with Connie and Mary blog hop!

Our theme is the new Holiday Catalog.

Where do I begin??? This year it’s just FABULOUS!!

A favorite of mine is the Pizza Boxes. They are coated to be food safe, but hold cards equally as well. So that was my starting point for these –

libbystamps, stampin up, Painted Harvest, Merry Cafe, Mini Pizza Boxes, Whisper White 3x3 Envelopes, Everyday Label Punch, CCMC

The Painted Harvest is next on my favorites so far which I combined with the Merry Cafe to create 4 3×3 little cards. Another new thing is 3×3 mini envelopes! (They are under the cards in the picture.)

libbystamps, stampin up, Painted Harvest, Merry Cafe, Mini Pizza Boxes, Whisper White 3x3 Envelopes, Everyday Label Punch, CCMCI used the flower center and a partial leaf to create the little pumpkin here.

libbystamps, stampin up, Painted Harvest, Merry Cafe, Mini Pizza Boxes, Whisper White 3x3 Envelopes, Everyday Label Punch, CCMC

Here, I created the pooling water look with the fern stamp and three inks, Black Memento, Basic Grey and Smokey Slate.

libbystamps, stampin up, Painted Harvest, Merry Cafe, Mini Pizza Boxes, Whisper White 3x3 Envelopes, Everyday Label Punch, CCMC

Thinking out of the box here by using the two acorns pieces, opposite, I created the holiday glasses.

libbystamps, stampin up, Painted Harvest, Merry Cafe, Mini Pizza Boxes, Whisper White 3x3 Envelopes, Everyday Label Punch, CCMCThe wreath here is pretty straight forward. It’s the flower without the stamped centers.

Did you notice the ‘ticket corner’ looking punched corners on all the cards? I used the new Everyday Label Punch to create them. Just insert them from the top of the punch using the edge as a guideline.

We all have our favorites and products we gravitate too. See what the other Design Team members created –

  • Card Stock – Whisper White, Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie, Soft Sky, Cherry Cobbler

Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop – Pop Up Surprise!

Happy, happy Saturday. The last post from me was last Saturday. I have missed a week of creating and blogging due to Harvey.

In a nutshell, I live basically in Houston, right outside the city limits, in Pearland. The past week has been a blur. It started raining last Saturday evening really hard and never stopped. Water levels in our neighbor went up and down. Only to not go down. We live in a two-story house so we took stuff upstairs, like my stamp stuff among other items. As it was evident the water was on the rise, our efforts to move stuff (furniture) went into a higher gear. I went to bed Monday night around 3:00 am as the water was creeping up the 10 inch house foundation. I had accepted the fact I would wake up to water in my home. A few hours later as I woke up, the house was as still as could be, the ac had not turned on in a long while (a sign to me that the outside ac unit had taken on water), and there was the smell of strong musty humidity in the air. I got up to a dry floor as I walked through the house. I looked outside and although it was still raining, we had not flooded and the water was not touching the slab anymore. It was slow to drain on Tuesday, but by Wednesday the water had receded on our street enough to drive through it. But not the case for SO, SO many. As of Friday night, many areas and homes are still flooded or have flooded because of dam and reservoir water releases. It has truly been incomprehensible. We received some 45+ inches of rain.

My dear friends at Create with Connie and Mary have provided wonderful support with their care and concern. It was important to me to get back to them and my other stamp commitments. Stamping is my therapy. And, after this experience, I’m going to need a lot of therapy – in many forms!!!

Our theme this week is, Pop Up Surprise.

I’ve created lots of pop up cards, and, of course I strived for one a bit different.

libbystamps, stampin up, Creep it Real, Merry Little Christmas DSP, Black Mini Sequin Trim, CCMC, Pop Up Card I went with a Halloween themed card. libbystamps, stampin up, Creep it Real, Merry Little Christmas DSP, Black Mini Sequin Trim, CCMC, Pop Up Card

As you open it, the surprise is revealed!

And, believe or not, it folds flat!

Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop – Fun with Embossing Paste

We’ve made it to Saturday! Whew! It’s Hurricane Harvey Hoopla here in the land of Pears (Texas Gulf coast area)!!! So, I’ll share a card created for Create with Connie and Mary. My mojo was hard to come by today. Worried about the storm.

Enough wining whining, Our theme this week is Fun with Embossing Paste!

What a great topic as I ordered these supplies a while back, and in the meantime I have ‘misplaced’ my decorative masks I found the Embossing Paste and Palette Knives though. Ugh…..I’ll find them as soon as this goes live in the morning, I just know it!

But, no worries. I created my own mask with acetate sheets and a die cut! Worked beautifully!

I went with new products here –

libbystamps, stampin up, Creep it Real, Pick a Pumpkin, Pick a Pumpkin Bundle, Patterned Pumpkins Thinlits, Pretty Label  Punch, Embossing Paste, Palette Knives , CCMC

The sentiment is from the new set (available September 1) Creep it Real, and the pumpkins are from the Pick a Pumpkin set that is part of the Pick a Pumpkin Bundle that has coordinating framelits.

libbystamps, stampin up, Creep it Real, Pick a Pumpkin, Pick a Pumpkin Bundle, Patterned Pumpkins Thinlits, Pretty Label  Punch, Embossing Paste, Palette Knives , CCMC

I placed the framelit I used to create the background in this picture. And, yes, I ran it through several times to create the pattern used on the card with the paste. Totally worth it! After it dried, I went over each little + with Wink of Stella for added sparkle. Hard to see of course.

I layered two different ribbon along the bottom, Fresh Fig and a retired Tangerine Tango.

Check out the other Design Team members Embossing paste cards. I know I’m looking forward to seeing them. This was my first attempt at using this stuff. It’s way easy too!

Supplies –

  • Stamp Set – Creep it Real, Pick a Pumpkin
  • Framelits – Patterned Pumpkins
  • Bundles – Pick a Pumpkin
  • Card Stock – Lemon Lime Twist, Fresh Fig, Whisper White
  • Ink – Lemon Lime Twist, Fresh Fig, Tangerine Tango
  • Punches – Pretty Label
  • Other – Embossing Paste, Palette Knives, Wink of Stella, Fresh Fig 1/2 Finely Woven Ribbon, Tangerine Tango Ribbon (retired)

Create with Connie and Mary – Non-Traditional Christmas

Shout out to Katheryn from Illinois who called as I was writing this post. She was calling asking about this daisy I had added to some Rhinestones for special gifts. I love hearing from people about projects! Nice talking to you!!

Back to the post. . . . . .

Almost fall. Almost Halloween. Thanksgiving. Christmas will be here in a blink of an eye. This year is flying by.

Saturdays are set aside for a Create with Connie and Mary blog hop.

Going back to Christmas. Our theme this week is Non-Traditional Christmas.

This is a good one for the time of years it is. Although the stores have already bombarded with all things Christmas!

I went with this image from Watts of Occasions –

libbystamps, stampin up, Watts of Occasions, Eastern Palace Specialty DSP, nontraditional Christmas, CCMC

A lightbulb is about as non-traditional as you can get! And, these colors too. I just love this set for its whimsey!

libbystamps, stampin up, Watts of Occasions, Eastern Palace Specialty DSP, nontraditional Christmas, CCMC

I stamped it twice in different colors and cut the tree out. The enamel dots are retired and just balanced the color nicely!

It’s simple and right on with a non-traditional Christmas card.

Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop – Favorite DSP

Happy Saturday! Time to share our favorite Designer Series Paper (aka, DSP) with Create with Connie and Mary and a blog hop!

Theme, as I said, favorite DSP.

Can you guess mine???

libbystamps, stampin up, Pieces & Patterns, Stitched Shapes Framelits, CCMC, moose

Yep. it’s the Pick a Pattern. I just LOVE this paper. It has soo many possibilities!

libbystamps, stampin up, Pieces & Patterns, Stitched Shapes Framelits, CCMC, mooseI went with something rather simple in this design. The moose is cut from one of the patterns and the sentiment is stamped then trimmed, or fussy cut – my favorite!

And, you should see the card set I created for Create with Connie and Mary. It uses the same paper and the coordinating stamp set, Pieces & Patterns. It’s A D O R A B L E I tell you!

So I am just as curious as you are about the other Design Teams favorite Designer Series Papers! Check out them out here –

  • Stamp Set – Pieces & Patterns
  • Framelits – Stitched Shapes Framelits
  • Card Stock – Sahara Sand, Basic Black, Crushed Curry

Create with Connie and Mary Saturday Blog Hop – Fun with Re-Inkers

Time for a little fun for Create with Connie and Mary and a blog hop!

Our theme this week is a good one – Re-inker Fun!

The first thing that comes to mind is the shaving cream technique, then the baby wipe technique  – both create very interesting backgrounds.

I kept thinking about this idea…….and, I remembered taking re-inkers and dropping a dot of ink onto Shimmery White card stock and dragging a plastic scrapper or credit card along the paper to move the ink. And, that’s what I went with!

The colors I chose were from the brights : Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive and Tempting Turquoise. Simply because the re-inker box was conveniently open on my desk!  This is what my piece of Shimmery White card stock looked like before trimming it.

libbystamps, stampin up, dragged re-inker

For some reason, the Pumpkin Pie only went so far.

I trimmed that off as well as the initial drops where I started. I ended up with this –

libbystamps, stampin up, Re-Inker, CCMC, All Things Thanks, Coffee CafeI used double dimensionals to really give it the pop up. Behind the white inked and stamped panel and behind the black panel.

libbystamps, stampin up, Re-Inker, CCMC, All Things Thanks, Coffee CafePretty cool don’t you think?

We don’t know before the blog hop goes live what the others have created. I’m just as excited as you are to see what they did with re-inkers! Going forward, you will stop at Debbie Henderson. Back is Mary Brown.

Simple Supplies –

  • Stamp Set – All Things Thanks, Coffee Cafe (hearts)
  • Card Stock – Whisper White, Shimmery White, Basic Black
  • Ink – Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Tempting Turquoise, Memento Black
