Anniversaries are Charming

Today is a special day for me in the Stampin’ Up world – it’s my 10th Anniversary!

Yep. That’s right. 10 years ago I signed up as a demonstrator and got the free box of ink pads – my choice of color family! And, back then it was like a $55 value. The rest, history, lol!

Of course, I had to find the energy to make myself a card –

libbystamps, stampin up, Labels to Love, Large Numbers Framelits, Birthday Memories DSP, anniversary, James Avery

Whoop! Whoop!

libbystamps, stampin up, Labels to Love, Large Numbers Framelits, Birthday Memories DSP, anniversary, James Avery

It was a simple design, but the tricky part was adding the little charms on the twine. Mini Dimensionals to the rescue!

libbystamps, stampin up, Labels to Love, Large Numbers Framelits, Birthday Memories DSP, anniversary, James AveryI’m going to hate to take it apart though……I added James Avery Charms for a little bling. My gift to myself for the 10 years!

My other ‘job’ has been at this jewelry store close to my home. Between the stamps and jewelry – I never have any money!!

If you’re interested in them for yourself, you can find them here : ihearts, and u. They can be put on a charm bracelet, charm holder necklace or a chain.

Speaking of work, got to get ready. Our store received no water damage from the storm, however, our AC has been out since we’ve been back. The temperatures are excruciating!! There are close to 90 degrees with 85% humidity. (I know, WHY are we even open…?????). If you’re from Texas, you’ll understand just what that feels like. Those in other parts don’t understand just how hot a Texas hot is!

If you’d like to join in my celebration, place an online order, the new Holiday Mini just came out) or sign up for Paper Pumpkin (first month is half off until the 10th) – I’ll be giving my commissions to one of my stampin’ friends whose elderly mom lives with her. They lost everything in the floods from Harvey. She alway brought her mom with her and I’d give her a warmed blanket as my friend stamped. We went last Saturday to help her pack what we could : clothes, personal items and even salvaged some of her stamp supplies, but, we also throw out most of the contents of her home. Please consider helping me, support her.

  • Card Stock – Real Red, Whisper White, Silver Foil
  • Ink – Black Memento

Happy Luna-Versary

What the….?..?..?

Well, five years ago, this happened –

libbystamps

We became first time cat parents.

We’d never had cats before.

Until.

Until this little adorable thing followed our daughters home from a walk to the mall. I told them if she stayed around a few nights, I’d consider keeping her. Well, she never left!

Today, we celebrate her arrival because we don’t know when she was born. The vet did say she was like a teenager age when we took her in.

libbystamps, stampin up, Milestone Moments, Foxy Friends, Fox Builder Punch, Lots of Labels, Mini Jingle Bells, Blender Pens

And, of course, I’m celebrating this stuff!

We couldn’t really decide just what to call her. Biscuit, Moon or Luna. At the time, we settled (sort of) on Luna. She now responds to Kitty Kitty or Meow Meow. Go figure. Guess that’s a cat for you!

After a year, we had this celebration –

libbystamps

Super cute picture! You can see her blue, blue eyes! They really are a beautiful light blue shade!

Today, we did something similar –

libbystamps

Ha-ha! Five years for ya!!

libbystamps

Despite the licking of the chops, she really had NO interest in our tuna ‘cake’.

libbystamps, stampin up, Milestone Moments, Foxy Friends, Fox Builder Punch, Lots of Labels, Mini Jingle Bells, Blender Pens

Going back to the card for her, it was lots of fun to create! The repeated FIFTH stamping was a bit challenging because the stamp actually said, TWENTY-FIFTH and I had to not ink up the TWENTY- part. Not too bad since these are the photopolymer stamps that you can see through.

libbystamps, stampin up, Milestone Moments, Foxy Friends, Fox Builder Punch, Lots of Labels, Mini Jingle Bells, Blender Pens

I tried to color the cat like her for more realistic appeal. Not too bad. She always sits very upright and precarious with her tail curled around just so. She has long since worn her collar with the bell, but it made this look more cat-like.

She is a typical Flame Point Siamese – she doesn’t like anyone! Anyone but me that is. The family ribs me about it all the time – guess they’re just jealous…..

I’d love to read what you think about my special post today! Pets are our family. We celebrate them too!

(This special Luna-versary took place on January 7th – yesterday – but she slept half the day away. So I just posted today instead!)

Coffee, Tea…or Me?

Lol, I’m sure some of you might know that tagline!!!! It was from an airline in the 1960’s.

This week at Watercooler Wednesday, we have another Simply Stampin’ challenge –

14720595_10210241988861531_3333616375888273955_n

This one is from Heidi and you have to feature coffee or tea.

It was way more difficult than I thought because you are limited to one layer with no additional die cuts, embelishments or anything. Just stamping.

So. I thought about it.

And thought about it.

After reading the theme numerous times, it hit me what I should create.

This –

libbystamps, stampin up, WWC94, Designer Tin of Cards, Layered Letters Alphabet, Timeless Textures, Writing Notes

Adorbs, right?

libbystamps, stampin up, WWC94, Designer Tin of Cards, Layered Letters Alphabet, Timeless Textures, Writing Notes

It really is only one layer with stamping.

libbystamps, stampin up, WWC94, Designer Tin of Cards, Layered Letters Alphabet, Timeless Textures, Writing Notes

Nothing else. At all.

What person wouldn’t love to receive this as a little ‘love’ note?????

I’d love to read what you think about this throwback card!

Now that I got you to thinking about this sketch, create something and join us Watercooler Challenges.

Supplies –

  • Stamp Set – Writing Notes, Layered Letters Alphabet, Timeless Textures, Designer Tin of Cards (tiny heart trio)
  • Card Stock – Whisper White
  • Ink – Soft Sky Basic Grey, Cherry Cobbler, Soft Suede

Wacky Watercooler April Blog Hop

It’s April, and that fun time of the month again! Besides the excitement of it being my anniversary of 26 years yesterday (hence why I’m late), it’s also a fabulous blog hop over at Wacky Watercooler!

April 2016 Banner

Grab a cup of coffee Make a pot of coffee and prepare yourself for a real treat of a blog hop and some talented creators.

What we have done here is to go to another person’s blog, for me, Buffy Cooper on the hop, and find a few cards or projects and recreate them using the soon-to-retire 2014-2016 In-Colors.

You know me, I’m all about themes! The first picture will be Buffy’s items, the next will be mine using my theme. Since there are five retiring colors, I found five, yes five, cards to re-create using those colors.

First. I started with this nifty box Buffy had directions for. Can you believe it, I’ve never made a box using the Envelope Punch Board? Gasp, what’s wrong here?? Here is the link to Buffy’s box and her box –

And, here is my box front decorated –

libbystamps, stampin' up, Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop April, 2014-2016 In Colors

This card from this post I found on Buffy’s site really caught my eye. It’s simple.

And, here is how I re-created it –

libbystamps, stampin' up, Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop April, 2014-2016 In Colors

Remember, I got a theme going here. It’s so nice and bright!

This card was another eye-catching one for me. It came from this post.

Buffy Cooper, libbystamps, Wacky Water Cooler April Blog Hop, 2014-2016 In-Colors

And I pretty much copied it. With a twist.

libbystamps, stampin' up, Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop April, 2014-2016 In Colors

Cheers because we had a nice ‘toast’ to celebrate 26 years!

Now, this card was just stunning in color. It’s from this post.

Buffy Cooper, libbystamps, Wacky Water Cooler April Blog Hop, 2014-2016 In-Colors

And, my take on it –

libbystamps, stampin' up, Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop April, 2014-2016 In Colors

Because in a marriage, there’s always got to be laughter! Either with one another or at each other!!! Lol!

I really just kept finding cards to copy. Buffy has some great work! This is card four from this post.

Buffy Cooper, libbystamps, Wacky Water Cooler April Blog Hop, 2014-2016 In-Colors

And, my really sweet take on it –

libbystamps, stampin' up, Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop April, 2014-2016 In Colors

Although I forgot to emboss the Tangelo Twist, you get the idea. And, guys don’t really notice things like that anyway!

Ok. Ok. Last card I found. It can be found at this link.

Buffy Cooper, libbystamps, Wacky Water Cooler April Blog Hop, 2014-2016 In-Colors

And, yes, we celebrated Thursday.

libbystamps, stampin' up, Wacky Watercooler Blog Hop April, 2014-2016 In Colors

So. Nice, huh? Guess my ‘theme’ in addition to the ‘Retiring In-Colors’?

IMG_7842

Anniversary. All the cards have a definite theme of love. All are masculine of sorts too. So, Happy Anniversary, Ed! Lot’s of love to you for many more years to come!

Love You, CCMC

Yes. Two things going on here.

First, it’s my anniversary. I know. Another life event happening on the SAME day as a card challenge – on a challenge blog that I just recently became a Design team member of…….

This week over at Create with Connie and Mary, we have another great sketch to get you thinking and get you using all some of those things from your stash! See the sketch –

CCMC403

Nice layout, right? I certainly thought so.

Since it is my anniversary and I needed a card……..I created this –

libbystamps, Stampin' Up, Watercolor Words, Fun Frames EF, Red Foil Sheets, Sweetheart Punch, CCMC403

Lovely, right?

I loved it. I think Ed will too!

libbystamps, Stampin' Up, Watercolor Words, Fun Frames EF, Red Foil Sheets, Sweetheart Punch, CCMC403

As you can see, I took to the fussy cutting again. For both sentiments too! They came from Watercolor Words. I cut the ‘you’ from the ‘just for you’ apart!

libbystamps, Stampin' Up, Watercolor Words, Fun Frames EF, Red Foil Sheets, Sweetheart Punch, CCMC403

The lighter color of the words is on purpose as I used the Basic Grey Archival Ink Pad. I wanted that softer look here. And, you can’t go wrong with red foil paper to express love.

I’ve got some celebratin’ to do – 26 years! Wahoo! Love you my dear Ed!!!

So. You know it’s good ‘card-carma’ to leave a comment. Then, you should check the rest of the Design Team creations over at Create with Connie and Mary, while you’re there – pull out your stash and play along with us!

Happy Stampin’

Happy Anniversary, Rose

I’m guessing by now you figured out it’s not a multiple card friday! Sorry, I know those are fun – lots of cards in one place.

I do have a card share today! And, yes I was inspired by Create with Connie and Mary again today. Sort of a weekly thing these days! And, no, no fussy cut words, lol!

Here is their fabulous sketch –

CCMC397

Of course, my mind went to thinking.

I had a request for an anniversary card. This was the perfect layout. After a little flying card stock, a few snip of paper, and gluey fingers, I came up with this –

libbystamps, stampin up, Wildflower Fields DSP, Rose Garden Thinlits, Numbers of Years, CCMC397, Anniversary, Sale-a-Bration 2016

And, yes, I used this Rose. Again. It’s just a great thinlits set. After trying a few different focal points for this card, I just came back to the Rose Garden Thinlits one.

libbystamps, stampin up, Wildflower Fields DSP, Rose Garden Thinlits, Numbers of Years, CCMC397, Anniversary, Sale-a-Bration 2016

Initially, I thought these angled lines in the sketch were going to be an issue – hah, they were not. I even figured an easy way to execute multiples of this design. And not getting a headache from cutting angled lines!

The Silver Sale-a-Bration Washi Tape added just the right balance the card needed. And, the sketch called for it. Either way, it looks great!

I hope you like my take on the sketch as much as I do! I’d love to hear what you think!
